Diatonic Harmony exercices. How to ?

Hi,
I wonder if someone has found a way to parameter exercices about chords but to force ear master to play only Diatonic Chords of Major Harmony (for example) , just to practice the recognization of Degrees, and then with Minor Harmony etc. For example : I 'd like to configure Ear Master to play only :
CM7 D-7 E-7 F7M G7 A-7 B-7b5
in a random way and to have to give degrees as answers : I or II or III or IV or V or VI or VII and that's all.

You should be able to assign diatonic chords by custom making them and then select only those chords for your custom tutorial. I don't think you can have them display the mode/scale degree, but keep in mind that if you're trying to quiz yourself on scale degrees there's no way to distinguish (in real music) the scale degree of the minor 7s and major 7s because songs usually modulate/change key quite a bit (in most songs). It was once told to me not to look at a chord as only horizontal but also vertical meaning that you should look at a chord as a chord/scale in the sense that a specific chord only tells you what options you have, ex.
If I have a Cmin then I know that I could use any scale that has that Cmin in it. These scales might include Cmin, B, Ab, Eb blues, ect. So a chord really mainly dictates what options you have.
I think it would be better to do the scale identification if you're trying to learn your diatonic degrees.

Hi, thanks for your response, but I don't agree with you. I've already have the knowledge of all you are talking about in your response, and I've already trained myself about diatonic degrees instantaneous recognition with the David L. Burges "Relative Pitch Ear Training" long time ago, and I can assure you that it is really worthwhile. And it helps also to identify eventual modulations and so on, because all degrees are identified relatively to the I chord. So I've already this experience of this type of exercices. And I know all what you write about scales or modes relative to a chord etc. as I have already worked Jazz Harmony for many years. But it was not my concern in my request.
Anyway, it is a detail with regard to all the possibilities of training of this magic Ear Master Software, I like it ! Really ! It is always a game for me to
recognize more and more quickly any music interval, chord, sequence etc.

Ok I get it now, I didn't quite understand you at first but now I do. That may be a feature that they can include in the next update. And I agree with you I really like the Earmaster pro software alot.
