Whole-hearted recommendation of EarMaster
I had a lot of fun playing around with EarMaster 5. It pretty much does what a music teachers does (or should do!) and whilst my opinion is still that no software will ever replace a real teacher, it’s a very useful addition to traditional tuition and, if you are learning on your own, it’s a million per cent better than having no aural training at all. When you start using EarMaster, you very soon recognise the fact that the exercises have all been well thought out, by music teachers, no doubt!

In short I was very impressed by the content, the way that the exercises work, and by the overall quality of the experience when using the program. Whether in use at home or in a school setting, it works simply and simply works. It gets my whole-hearted recommendation for either situation and I’ll most certainly be showing it to my colleagues at my various schools.

Highly Recommended!
The user-friendly EarMaster Pro 5 by eMedia makes it easy to develop a skill that will make you a better player, composer and all-around maestro"

Each instructional section offered a cogent explanation of the theory behind the examples, and the actual sound is clear as a bell.

What I especially liked was how EarMaster Pro tackled each skill without getting bored.

A Wonderful Tool
If you find ear training the least bit of fun and have the slightest degree of competitive mentality, it won't take long before you constantly try to outdo yourself and improve your abilities in recognizing and transcribing intervals, chords, scales, rhythms etc.

During spring I have tried EarMaster with a group of students that were not particularly strong in music theory or ear training and the reaction has been very positive.

Editor’s Choice!
[EarMaster] offers a large variety of tutorials, with both a standard and a jazz mode that can help develop different styles, along with the ability to set difficulty levels depending on experience. The interface is clean and appealing, and we found we rarely had to resort to the comprehensive help files. We would happily recommend the software to any beginning music student as a valuable complement to practicing an instrument.

An excellent “toy” that makes you smarter
EarMaster claims that most musicians have poor aural skills - and they are probably right! But, as we all know, practice makes perfect, and this goes for ear training with EarMaster too. The past couple of months I’ve spent 20-30 minutes a day practicing ear training with this program, and I’ve progressed significantly!!
You don’t have to be a computer genius to spend loads of funny and valuable, educative hours using EarMaster – it is easily and intuitively operated - EarMaster should be a must on every musician’s computer!

Ear training in Danish
…it is extremely relevant as a training tool for teachers who are either “out of shape” or just need improved personal competences, for instance when working with school choirs.
Working with ear training on your computer is more or less the perfect situation. The computer is exactly as patient as your want it to be. It doesn’t answer back and it can be configured to your personal needs on this field. The perfect coach! When you’re started, there is comprehensive online help along the way, so you’re never in doubt about the individual functions. Very flexible. […] it’s just a perfect piece of work!

"EarMaster does everything we were looking for -- and more. It runs flawlessly on the University network (...) All of our theory teachers designed a tutor for their classes. Without exception they found that the tutor editor was complete and that it was easy to use (...)

EarMaster is a very comprehensive program. There are many levels to choose from in each area, very simple to quite complexs. This makes it a program that can be successfully used at the high school level and it should be of interest to the private studio teacher as well."
