Can't make USB devices work

Post by Jim » Sep 28, 2005 1:50 am

Hi there,

Just downloaded the trail version, and I can't make it work. I have a USB keyboard (M-Audio Keystation Pro88) and a USB sound card (Digidesign M-Box). I've selected the USB devices in the tools dialogue, but all is still silent.

All the equipment works fine with Reason, but not with EarMaster. Any ideas?

Many thanks,

Jim.

Reason uses mainly Wave sound, (though I think it also has a sequencer section that uses MIDI sound), while EarMaster uses MIDI sound. Almost all sound cards can play MIDI sound, but some specialized sound production cards can not. Can your sound card play MIDI sound?

Try to open the Windows mixer and verify that the MIDI audio channel is not muted and the volume is correct. (Choose Run from the Windows Start menu and type "sndvol32").

Best regards,

Just a few things that you probably have already done:

Connect the keyboard before EarMaster is started
Make sure its in the same usb port as the one that worked in reason
Select it in earmaster:- Options->Program Settings->Devices->midi input
Check the menu option Answer Input->Midi In is ticked.
