Tones in minor triads named after relative major?

Post by Philly Desai » Aug 14, 2007 4:24 am

Hello

I'm doing the chord identification section and I've noticed that the tones for the minor triads are named as if they were from the relative major, ie, the root is called "la" rather than "do". Is this the usual musical way to think about minor keys? Don't they also go do, re, me, etc?

Thanks

Philly
