Re: melodic/rhythmic sight singing idea

Hello,

We have plans to add a time limit to the sight-singing and rythmic sight-reading exercises, so that teachers can specify how much time students can spend on preparing each exercise.

It should be available in one of the updates planned for this year.

Re: Purpose of sharp and flat symbols in Scale Identification

Hi, They "belong" to the notation staff, meaning that if you enter your answers by inserting notes on the staff, you have the possibility to specify which alteration should be used by selecting it prior to inserting a note. The highlighted alteration in the alteration toolbar is the one which is cur...

Well spotted! If the noise is loud enough, it can indeed trigger the evaluation of your answer.

Re: Problem solved! Melodic Sight Singing

Any mic should work, including built-in webcam mics. We always make sure the algorithm remains precise regardless of mic quality, as many (most) users don't have studio microphones at home.

Re: Melodic Sight Singing

Hi, 1) The tolerance can't be adjusted. It's set to a 1/4 tone average (i.e. if you're off pitch by only a 1/4 tone or less for the length of the note, it's still counted as correct). This means that strong vibrato that spans more than a quarter tone will make a note counted as wrong. For best resul...

Re: Problem solved! Melodic Sight Singing

Hi, Thanks for your feedback. EarMaster can analyze notes sung with solfege syllables, but it is possible that some combinations of voices, pitches and microphones may create strong overtones that make pitch analysis incorrect. We would like to dig deeper into this. Could you please end us a recordi...

Re: Descending minor and major third

Descending 3rds can be tricky as Major 3rd descending sounds like the beginning of a minor triad played descending (and vice-versa with a minor 3rd). So when in doubt, you could try to sing the rest of the triad.

Re: iOS 15.1.1 bug

Hi, Just to be sure I understand your issue correctly: You use a MIDI keyboard in GarageBand, then minize GarageBand, then open EarMaster, but MIDI IN is not working in EarMaster. Is it correct? If yes, then please make sure that you have enabled MIDI IN in "Exercise Options" (the right-side panel w...

Re: Apple Silicon (M1) native support

Hi,

EarMaster will run natively on M1 (and other Apple ARM chips) at some point, but whether it will be version 7 or a future one, I don't know. You can contact the development team directly, maybe they have more information on that: feedback@earmaster.com

Re: Configure to answer all session questions

Hi Mike,

It makes very good sense. After all, it's less about scores than about feeling that you have acquired the skills you were aiming for.

I have added this to our list of user suggestions.

Cheers,
Quentin

Re: Intervals lesson 8.3

Hi,

C and G are 5 semitones apart, and that makes a perfect 4th regardless of whether the interval is played upwards or downwards.

Re: Earmaster error message -weUserNotExists

Hi Liz,

Could you please open the Student Results section and click on the "Refresh" icon while holding the ALT key of your computer keyboard. This will overwrite all local cached data with fresh data form the cloud and should solve the issue.
