Re: How to sing notes

Just produce a sound in any way you want, only pitch without tonal context is in focus there. You don't need solfege to echo a sound.

Solfege is introduced together with the notion of Major scale and tonal contexts a few lessons later.

Re: Minor melodic singback midi input problem

Thank you. The video was very helpful! I managed to reproduce the problem, it's definitely a bug. It happens when "Continuous call-response" is enabled and "Count-in" is disabled.

We will fix this asap, until then you can avoid the problem by re-enabling count-in.

Re: Minor melodic singback midi input problem

Depending on the question, the octaves on the screen will move, and maybe this is applied to MIDI IN as well, I'm not sure. I think the easiest way to discard remote control as a possible source of error is to deactivate the remote control feature in EarMaster's preferences by unticking all options ...

Re: Synchronisation problem

Hi,

It sounds like your local copy got out of sync. Clicking on the refresh icon in the Student Results window while pressing and holding the ALT key on your computer keyboard should fix the problem. It's a shortcut to "hard-refresh" all data from the cloud.

Re: See which lessons have been completed

Hi,

Students can see which lessons they have completed in the results section of the app, available at the bottom left of the home screen. We have plan to also indicate which lessons have been completed in the list of lessons of a workbook.

Re: Minor melodic singback midi input problem

Another thing: Some of the keys are used to remote control the exercises, so you can't play melodies on them. If you are not using them, you can deactivate that feature in EarMaster's preferences, under "Remote control".

Re: melodic and rhythmic dictate exercise input extremely cumbersome

This limitation is not by design but because it isn't supported by our development tool, unfortunately. The next update of EarMaster will include shortcuts for laptop keyboards, so it will be much easier to use the melodic dictation exercises.

Re: melodic minor on descending scale identifcation

Hi Franz, EarMaster will always play a descending natural minor scale when the exercise is about a descending melodic minor scale, as common practice commands. However you can force the software to play the same notes as those of the ascending melodic minor scale in descending order by adding a cust...

Re: melodic and rhythmic dictate exercise input extremely cumbersome

Absolutely, but I remember that we discussed this internally and had to conclude that it wasn't technically feasible for us to enable user-defined shortcuts in EarMaster.

We have plans to add shortcuts that don't require a numeric pad. This would indeed be extremely useful.

Re: EM7 - Sight Singing Pitch Recognition

Thank you. I ran a frequency analyzer on the recording, and it looks like the overtones in your voice overpower the root frequency of the note when you sing D. Could you try to sing the same note in falsetto to see if the same problem occur?

Re: Teacher role for Earmaster Cloud

Hi Liz Free teacher slots are unlocked by inviting students to subscribe on a private basis, as opposed to the Credits system that you seem to be using now, where the school pays the access to EarMaster for teachers and students. For more details about these two different licensing systems, please r...
