While augmented chords have the very characteristic raised fifth that gives them a more "floating" aspect, reduced chords have that tense stacking minor-third sound. It becomes much simpler to identify the entire chord if you can clearly hear those intervals.

That's a clever strategy! Ear training using a MIDI keyboard can significantly improve "finger-to-ear" abilities. Combining tools could improve practice even if Solfege Fundamentals doesn't completely enable it.
