How Do You Keep Ear Training Fun and Motivating Over Time?

Post by jeffreestar »

Hi everyone,

I’ve been using EarMaster to improve my ear training, especially with intervals and chord recognition. At first it felt exciting, but after a while I noticed it can become repetitive if I don’t change up my routine.

I’m curious:
  • What strategies do you use to keep ear training fun and engaging?
  • Do you mix EarMaster exercises with playing along to your favorite songs, or maybe set small weekly challenges?
  • Have you found certain features in EarMaster (like jazz chord recognition, rhythm training, or sight-singing) that helped you stay motivated?
I think sharing different approaches could be really helpful for learners like me who want to make steady progress without burning out. Looking forward to hearing your tips!

I like to mix EarMaster exercises with learning songs by ear and practicing on my instrument. Rotating between different exercise types and setting small weekly goals helps keep things interesting and motivating.
