Delay in rhythm exercises? Solution here

Post by Quentin »

Quote from the EarMaster FAQ:

"EarMaster can compensate for the delay in your sound card. When you activate this compensation, EarMaster will use a wave file for the clap sound to avoid using the delayed sound in your sound card.

Go to the Tools menu, choose Program settings and find the MIDI devices tab. Here you can Synchronize rhythms by adjusting the delay."

There is another delay.
When you play chords.
The chord is played as individual notes.
C,E,G -notes in chord .instead of one sound you get 3 sounds.

Isn`t there a way to choose midi out to the audio card ?I have a usb sound card, its better than...Microsoft midi mapper or the other one...?!

If your soundcard has a built-in software synth, or if you can connect a hardware sound module to your external USB soundcard, then yes, you can simply route the MIDI output of EarMaster to your USB soundcard in the Program Settings (or Preferences on Mac).

Another way to achieve better -and sometimes faster- MIDI playback is to route the MIDI to a sample/soundfont player, as explained there: http://www.earmaster.com/support/faq.htm#sample_player

EarMaster lets you fix sound card delay issues—just go to Tools > Program Settings > MIDI Devices and adjust the rhythm delay for better sync.

Why is doing this my problem? Make the program we are paying for work... I have an RME interface that has as little latency as possible, and this app doesn't work ever.... so the app is broken; whatever setting you're talking about should be the default, it shouldn't be on users to go looking for this, you owe everyone who is paying for this a refund.

the rhythm game I'm on is mouse clicks or space bar clicks and it can't handle syncing that up, has zero to do with the sound card, this company should not be in business... an NES in 1985 understood the timing in button pushes, this app in 2026 that claims it does, DOES NOT, I'm tapping as ON THE BEAT as I possibly can and the "claps" are consistently late.

They need to refund every user until they actually get someone with common sense to test this app
