Trouble setting up

I can't get the mic and the headphones configured correctly. As a result, when I sing notes into the program, they register at a different time than I am actually singing. I am very good at rhythm, so I'm sure it is mostly the machine. I keep changing the latency settings, mics, headphones, no headphones, etc., but I haven't had much success.

I am on an approximately 4-year-old laptop with Windows 11.

To fix latency on Windows 11, try switching the audio driver setting in EarMaster to ASIO or download ASIO4ALL if your device lacks native support. Avoid Bluetooth headphones, as wired connections are required to prevent audio delay.

Are you experiencing latency when playing rhythms on the space bar or when clapping in front of a mic?

In both cases, I suggest that you use wired headphones, as Bluetooth headphones usually introduce a huge latency. Also in EarMaster's preferences, you can adjust the latency settings in the option "Input timing offset" under "Other options". Set it to at least 120ms, and see if that helps. FInally, make sure to update EarMaster, as it is now using Windows' own low latency driver WASAPI.

Regarding the answer from @gouloatrea, EarMaster doesn't offer support for ASIO drivers, so that solution is not possible unfortunately, but WASAPI also offers low latency audio like ASIO.
