A Journey of Passion and Innovation 
Today, EarMaster turns 30! Our story began in 1994 with founder Hans Jakobsen, a young musician preparing for the Royal Music Conservatory of Copenhagen. Hans knew his musical ear needed serious work. But with no effective tools available, he turned to a friend for help, practicing intervals on the piano. It was fun, but not nearly enough.
Luckily, Hans had a secret weapon: a Master's in Robot Engineering. Combining his programming skills with his musical ambition, he built a simple DOS app to drill intervals and chords. His fellow musicians loved it, and in 1996, the first official version of EarMaster was born!
Three decades and over 3 million users later, that same passion fuels everything we do. From our small office by the Baltic Sea to global recognition by Apple, the NAMM TEC Awards, and beyond, our mission remains unchanged: to help you become the best musician you can be.
