self study learner

Post by Sylwek » Jun 01, 2016 4:47 am

Hi,

I'm elderly as the one who wants to take advantage of ear training ...
As I wrote I'm self study piano learner and I would like to improve my ear. I don't attend any lessons with teacher, just by myself. Will standard course attached to the program be enough or should I create own excercises?

Thanks for your assistance in advance.

Hi!

Ear training is essential in developing your musical skills. For some it is difficult, and for others it comes a lot more natural. EarMaster provides courses that starts off being quite simple, and then it slowly progresses in difficulty. If you want to learn and practice ear training without a teacher, EarMaster is definitely the best way to go about it. Our new iPad version, which will be out soon, actually includes a beginner course, which is even more simple than the standard course, and provides more in depth explanations to the exercises. In time, this will also be added to the desktop version.

My best advice to train your ears without a teacher, would be to train it and learn it with EarMaster, and then try to apply the ear training you learn, every time you listen to music ex. when you hear a song in the radio. This will be very benificial. You can download a free trial for EarMaster here, to see if you like it: http://www.earmaster.com/downloads/trial-versions

We also have a free music theory course here: http://www.earmaster.com/music-theory-o ... troduction, which could help you understand the theory behind everything. There is also our interval song chart, which can help you remember the different intervals, in the beginning: http://www.earmaster.com/products/free- ... -generator

Please don't hesitate to ask any further questions.

Hi,

Many thanks for your reply.

I've already downloaded the trial version but still I'm not sure If I get by. However, your comment on my post cheers me up and my hesitation seems to be disappearing.

Best wishes,

That sounds good. I am sure you will find it useful, as soon as you get a hold of it. If you have an iPad, I would recommend you to check out the iPad version once it is released (likely within a week).

Please don't hesitate to ask any questions. We are here to help.
