When the message is shown there is an option to retry. a) If it is a permanent error and it doesn't help to click Retry, then it might be because one or more users does not have the needed rights to Write their data to the shared data files on the server. b) If it works after clicking Retry, then it...

The guitar is set to sound one octave lower than the notated tone. This is normal practice to get the correct sound for the guitar. When using MIDI in, the guitar transposing depends on the visible screen instruments: If the Guitar is visible but the Piano is not visible you will experience that the...

Setting "Transposing instrument" to -12 should do exactly what you want. I just tried it with my own voice and it correctly transcribes the tones I sing one octave hight as it should. If you find that EarMaster recognize your voice one octave too high, then please use the microphone wizard...

Thank you for your suggestion. Chord dictation is pure music theory and that might be included some day, but first of all we focus on exercises that include sound. This means either to identify what was played or play what you see (sight reading).

It is true that a student can delete results and currently the teacher has no way to prevent this. EarMaster is made for both practice and test, but if you make a test and base your grades on that test alone, you should be aware that the student can cheat. We will improve this in the next version of...

1) If the question is outside the range of the guitar, EarMaster has to transpose the fretboard so you are able to enter the correct tones. 2) EarMaster is designed for Ear Training which is closely connected with general music theory. The EarMaster lessons are based on general music theory where ch...

Dear Gasp, Thank you for your feedback. We consider to include sight reading in the next version of EarMaster. You can define your own chords in EarMaster, so I suppose you can also practice the tetrachords you want? You are welcome to send an email to us and elaborate on your ideas. How should the ...

Yes this is the correct approach. After some time of practice you no longer need to sing and count the tones from the root, as you will be able to hear the scale steps immediately.

Hi TedClayMore, I tried to reconstruct the problem you describe, but it works correctly on my computer. When I define the "Maj7 5137 (drop2)" and choose only the C major key, it correctly names the chord: "CMaj7 5137 (drop2)" and shows the tones GCEB. Maybe you didn't set the &qu...

It is very common to write intervals as harmonic intervals even when they are played melodic. Only when the interval is a part of a melody the notes should always be transcribed next to each other.
